Hesed [Loving Attachment]

If joy says, ‘I’m glad you’re here,’ Hesed says, ‘I’m not going anywhere.’ Together, they create the relational soil for deep change. We need not be challenged but convicted, and as we go from death to life, we need a people, the church, willing to help us along the way. 

We expect that thinking and knowledge will lead to transformation: “Scripture is true and reliable and good, do what it says.” The formula looks reasonable to modern eyes, but it has a fatal flaw—it is missing the most important variable. Love, the primary mover of character, is absent. Without hesed, we see little transformation (1 Cor. 13).
