Nehemiah 6: Fear, Faith, and Finishing the Work
Fear is the tone of this chapter. The words "afraid" and "frighten" are used four times and once, respectively.
We will see people trying to thwart the plans of God in Nehemiah 6. These men, who possess wealth, power, and influence in a nation, want to take out Nehemiah (out of fear). But Nehemiah doesn’t budge. The book of Nehemiah was not preserved for us so that we would build something today, but that we would believe in something today.
That we would believe God knows and defeats the schemes of the enemy, so we can trust Him and stay on mission.
The question I want us to wrestle with this morning, “Who do I believe is in control, and what do I do in the midst of great fear?” Let’s be like Nehemiah, and believe something, God knows and defeats the schemes of the enemy, so we can trust Him and stay on mission.
