Easter Changes Everything - Luke 24:13-35
There’s one feeling we often forget when hearing about an empty tomb, a feeling that the honest and authentic Scripture allows us to acknowledge: hopelessness. That’s where we start this morning in Luke 24.
These two men in Luke 24 had just seen their Messiah, their hope, be brutally murdered. Yet they had heard good news that morning. Some women had gone to the tomb and returned to report that it was empty. They had evidence and reason to stay, but they threw in the towel. Right at the greatest moment of their lives, they lost hope.
The news of an empty tomb alone didn’t spark hope in their hearts. For these two disciples, their hopelessness wasn’t just about what they lost. It wasn’t simply unmet expectations—it was a wrong view of God. They couldn’t see that God’s plan was far bigger than they understood. Yet, amid their unbelief, Jesus approaches them. You throwing in the towel may be the best thing you have ever done. If you know brokenness, you are closer to the kingdom of God than you think. Today is the day of salvation.
