Ruth 3:1-18

Many of us are more like Naomi than we want to admit. Trying to secure outcomes. Trying to force clarity. Trying to protect ourselves from uncertainty.

But I want you and I to notice a small change in Naomi after Ruth returned… 18 She replied, “Wait, my daughter, until you learn how the matter turns out, for the man will not rest but will settle the matter today.”

These are the last recorded words of Naomi. The same Naomi who left Bethlehem for Moab, and set up a meeting with Boaz, is encouraging rests in the promise of the redeemer. When she heard the promise from Boaz and saw the barely she told her the best advice yet… Wait. The man will settle the matter today.

Ruth reminds us: Rest is not found in mastering providence but in trusting the Redeemer who governs it.
