What Are You Running To?

Jun 14, 2026    John Schroeder

We were created to worship and will always run to someone or something for satisfaction.

Jeremiah exposes the tragedy of forsaking the fountain of living water to dig broken cisterns that cannot satisfy. Gospel fluency helps us look beneath our behavior to the beliefs driving our hearts, preaching the better promises of Jesus to ourselves and one another. In Christ, we find the only One who can truly forgive our sin and satisfy our deepest longings.

He fills what every broken cistern leaves empty.

So when we find ourselves running toward approval, success, comfort, money, relationships, or anything else for life, gospel fluency teaches us to stop and ask:

What am I believing right now?

What am I trusting?

What am I afraid of losing?

Then we preach the better promise of Jesus to our own hearts and to one another.
