Jesus leads an upside down kingdom

“What if everything you thought was important suddenly wasn’t? What if the things we often believe account for—success, recognition, power—are counterproductive to the way things ought to be?”

William Carey once said, ‘I am not afraid of failure; I am afraid of succeeding in things that don’t matter.’

Jesus’ teaching was upside down, meaning that it was counter-cultural in any culture. Mark doesn’t spend much of his writing on Jesus' sermons or parables, but when he does, he makes it count.
