Acts 1:1-11
What would it take for you to confidently give your life to the mission of Jesus?
I don't mean attend church. I don't mean agree with Christianity. I don't even mean cheer on other Christians who are doing incredible things for Jesus.
What would it take for you to actually reorient your life around the mission of the risen Jesus?
Because that's what Jesus is commissioning these men to do in the book of Acts.
There are plenty of reasons for them to feel uncertain.
But Jesus doesn't leave them uncertain. He gives them what they need to confidently join Him in His mission.
And in these eleven verses I want to show you four reasons for confidence:
We have measurable proof.
We have a clear purpose.
We have spiritual power.
And we have a trustworthy promise.
Our confidence isn't in our courage. It isn't in our abilities. It isn't in our personalities. It isn't even in how strong our faith feels today.
And here's the big idea I want us to see:
Because Jesus is alive, His witnesses can confidently embrace His purpose, depend on His Spirit's power, and trust His promise to return.
In other words, our confidence for the mission doesn't come from us. It comes from the risen Jesus.
Jesus is alive. He is advancing. And we are His witnesses.
