Galatians 2:11-24

Around 1940 at Oxford, there was a debate among scholars about world religions. C.S. Lewis walked in and asked, “What’s the fuss about?”
They responded, “We’re discussing what makes Christianity unique.”
Lewis replied, “Oh, that’s easy. It’s grace.”
That’s the argument Paul is making—if the gospel were man-made, it would not be grace-filled; it would be works-based.
There was no system in Paul’s day that would have led him to preach like this. The religious system in his day (and ours still) was based on transactions, earning favor by performing.
